Mother Hen: A Child of the Thirties
29 November 2022My Mum, Brenda Walker, died in 2020 from COVID-19 and frailty. We knew that she had written about her childhood growing up before and during the Second World War and always wrote poetry during her life - but it was still a bit of a surprise when my sister, Lynette Coates, found Mum's memoir and poetry in a box in her bedroom.
23 January 2022A few thoughts about working with Perch CMS and why I will be moving to a different system.
Running My First Marathon
15 September 2021Well, that was a massive day for me. Running my first marathon at Brighton on Sunday 12th September. How was it?!
Long Runs Done!
29 August 2021Well, that's it. I've completed my programme of long runs before the Brighton Marathon in two weeks time. I'm pleased to finish them! How have they been?
19 August 2021Yep, I'm training for a marathon. It's a 16-week plan which will culminate in running (and hopefully finishing) the Brighton Marathon (my first marathon) on 12th September. It's been an all-encompassing few months!
23 March 2021Here are some notes about recent work and web development things. I've not written a post like this for a while and I don't know if I will continue. As a result, I'm not calling these posts "Weeknotes" or "Month Notes" but just "Notes". It's a cunning plan, I think you will agree :-)

10 March 2021Running Up That Hill is a book by Vassos Alexander (a British sports reporter and endurance runner) where he describes his ultra-running adventures. Here's my review.

29 December 2020At the end of what has been a very difficult year, I've been reviewing a few web development and work things ...
Running Challenge Done!
04 December 2020I took part in the Centurion Running One Community Challenge at the end of November. My target was to run 50 km. My plan was to run it over a week.
20 November 2020We're still in COVID-19 November lockdown and I've not run in a race since last year. For added motivation as we reach the end of this second lockdown period (I hope), I have signed up for the Centurion Running One Community event. I have chosen to run 50 km in a week. Next week!
Things You Might Not Know About Me: 1 - Australia
11 November 2020My parents emigrated to Australia (under the Ten Pound Poms scheme) when I was nine years old. We travelled to Perth, Western Australia, by ship. It took about a month to get there!
