When I was younger, I used to imagine what it would be like in the year 2000. And try and think what I would be like at 40-plus. It was almost impossible. And yet, here we are in 2024. Blimey.

Here are some notes about recent work and web development things. I've not written a post like this for a while and I don't know if I will continue. As a result, I'm not calling these posts "Weeknotes" or "Month Notes" but just "Notes". It's a cunning plan, I think you will agree :-)

You're never too old to learn. Every time I work on a new website, I'm always finding and trying new things. I should probably document these more (mainly to help me remember them, ahem). So, let's start now...

After reading Rachel Andrew's weeknotes post, I have been inspired to do something similar for myself. Mainly so that I can look back on the year. Mind you, I'm not expecting my posts to describe quite as much!

This site is a bit of a testing ground for me. I want to write about different subjects, build the site on a minimal framework for speed, and figure out a few web development things. One of those is webmentions.

I have recoded my blog posts listings page using Grid Layout. And with CSS flexbox as a fallback for older browsers. Here's how I did that.

One of my objectives with this site is to do more with Grid Layout. I've made a start with that by recoding the site header section as follows.

I've added a few basic styles to this site now. And, I've been thinking about fonts, for example system fonts, or (shock, horror) using Times New Roman.
